Bio

Russell Walters, also goes by the nickname Rusty, was born in the late 70s in the west Michigan area. He discovered his love for entertainment through his family and friends who would present to him movies, tv programs, or music of the time.

Rusty began his official journey into music in the early 90s while he was in the 8th grade. He was easily coerced to pick bass guitar by his friends Ruben & Joe who had received guitars for Christmas the prior year. They quickly formed a band and poked around at Nirvana songs that were popular at the time. The following year they performed as Drain at a local Battle Of The Bands. Drain stayed together for a couple more years to play back yard & house parties. They would often rehearse in Rusty’s basement. His father bought him a modest PA system that could be used for rehearsals and public performances. Also During high school Rusty participated in the strings class where he played double bass. Joining the music program lead by Glenn Burek, who also gave bass guitar lessons to Rusty, lead him to playing at the annual Festival where schools were graded by judges on their musicality, performing two musicals with the high school, and playing in the basketball pep band known as Out Of Bounds.
